Write Your Soul Story
There’s a story bubbling just below the surface of your consciousness, waiting to be expressed. Next month you will have the opportunity to tap into your unconscious and write your Soul Story in six short weeks
“I highly recommend it as an experience
and a journey into the depths of your psyche”
(Ian, retired psychiatrist)
On the 6-Week Soul Writing Course, Soul Writers learn how to listen and trust the intuition’s quiet guidance and to allow the imagination the freedom to create, explore and write without judgment. We share our work in a safe, supportive environment to improve our writing and gather the confidence to explore and go deeper into our intuitive writing practice – and open up our hearts and souls and express our authentic voice.
Travel into the multidimensional world of your soul, into timeless storytime, beyond the realms of your physical existence.
Every week, I’ll gently guide you on a personal soul journey into your inner world. Writing is used as an anchor to describe your soul adventures. Soul Writers bring back messages and guidance that are personal to you.
Often the wisdom received on a soul journey is universally relevant as soul journeys connect writers to the collective, to the archetypal sea of knowing both beyond and part of the individual. Soul Journeys have the power to plug travellers back into the Soul of the Universe.
Many writers report a sense of ‘coming home.’
We write wonderful stories. Read on and enjoy the journey! Read previous Soul Writer’s journeys here.
Soul Journeys are similar to shamanic journeys in that they take you into your inner world and you meet inner guides and go on what some shamanic cultures call a ‘vision quest’. However, Soul Journeyes are different in that the goal is creativity and establishing a sense of safety - so you can unlock your soul voice.
A Sense of Safety is essential on a Soul Writing journey as it is fear which blocks us. There are lots of stories we create that stem from the fear, but fear is always at the root of a writing block. And so, although you may move into situations of conflict on your personal Soul Journeys, the starting point and the end point is always your Soul Sanctuary. This is why the first week of the 6-Week Soul Writing Course is all about you creating your safe, creative place: an inner location of creative nurturing where your unique Soul Voice is free to speak its truth.
Where’s your safe soul sanctuary? Some soul writers find themselves on a beach swinging in a hammock …
And others find themselves in a cosy log cabin in front of a log fire toasting marshmallows … you’ll find out where yours is on the 6-Week course.
I’ve designed the Soul Writing exercises to achieve 3 things:
1) To move you into a place of imaginative freedom, where your pen flows across the page.2) To connect you to your Self (capital S) and your creative well, your connection to source
3) For you to “experience” the creative writing techniques (rather than “learning” them) – for example, week 1 you will learn about writing engaging location and setting.
I also teach creative writing in academic institutions, however I strongly believe human beings have an innate understanding of story and how story works. I believe we are all natural storytellers. From a young age we tell each other stories. Children tell their parents or carers when they come home from school what they did that day. As Muriel Rukeyser said, “the universe is made of stories, not of atoms.” So there’s no need for lots of “academic teaching” - on this course you effortlessly unleash the natural storyteller within.
I’ve witnessed through my own “creative life” and “spiritual life” – the two being intimately entwined – that each personal shift in consciousness, is accompanied by a story comprised of personal archetypal characters. Archetypes are personifications of universal qualities which we all have access to. Read more about archetypes here.
Each shift in human consciousness is accompanied by a new story or narrative. We are collectively undergoing a shift right now as a species, a shift into an age of artificial intelligence and technology. The same is true on a personal level. Your own spiritual path, which is unique to you, is unfolding. Only you walk that path. You may meet and be guided by teachers, helpers and friends on the way, but there is no known trodden path for you to follow.
An authentic spiritual journey can be a lonely journey, for sometimes treading your unique path means stepping away from the ‘tribe’, standing out from the crowd, and being separate from the community. Choosing to regurgitate the received narrative, or following the path your teacher took can sometimes lead you away from your own vision and into an inauthentic life. Please note that I have trained with incredible teachers and mentors and I believe a spiritual journey requires a good teacher for safe and speedy development, but at a certain point, one must forge one’s own way in the world. On my own life journey, I’ve discovered there is a deeper level of safety, which comes from trusting myself. I have learned to listen to my inner voice, my Soul Voice. And to my inner guides.
On the 6-Week Soul Writing Course, you will meet your own guides and learn to listen to your Soul Voice and write the story that wants to be written, which Soul Writers often tell me is a reflection of the point they are at in their lives right now. You write a story that’s very personal to you.
Some Soul Writers have joined the course more than once and been amazed at how different their story is each time. As we move deeper and develop on our spiritual paths, so too, the story bubbling beneath the surface of our awareness with the clues and the wisdom woven into it which help guide us on our paths, changes also. Allowing our Soul Stories to bubble to the surface of our consciousness and be expressed is one way of welcoming the new and embracing our becoming.
At the end of the course you will have several pieces of “flash fiction” that some writers have woven together into a novella in flash, or others have extended. Others have simply treated the writing they produce as a soulful and enriching exercise in getting to know themselves at a deeper level and a way of “inner journaling” and witnessing the unfolding of their spiritual growth on the page. Whichever way you look at it, the stories are always extraordinary and full of surprises and sparkle with the magic of storytelling. Read some flash pieces here.
